Candles have been used for innumerous purposes for hundreds and thousands of years. Today, candles are associated with romance, relaxation and mystery because of the gentle and warm ambience they provide. Candles are also used in many religious and meditation ceremonies. In older times, candles gave light before light bulbs were invented and today they are still a staple in many households. The newer ways of using them, however, can include a plethora of examples, but it is safe to say no home should be without at least a few candles. Organic candles are a new popular item, because they are eco-friendly but still provide the same uses and benefits.
First, it is important to know that a product cannot be labeled as organic without undergoing strict tests and adhering to federal regulations which dictate whether something is organic or not. Similar to organic candles, mineral makeup such as the Stageline cosmetics undergo the same testing to meet these standards. This means no products which carry inorganic ingredients like paraffin and the entire manufacturing process is considered “green” or eco-friendly.
One very commonly used ingredient in organic candles is beeswax. It smells sweet and very similar to honey and is totally natural. Beeswax can be pressed into sheets of wax which are generally stamped with patterns similar to the honeycomb pattern in nature. Then the sheets are tightly rolled around the wick to create a candle.
Using natural and organic products in the home is becoming more and more popular as we become more aware of our responsibility to the planet. Beeswax is just one natural ingredient which smells great and eases our conscience. Organic candles are a very easy way to live green and enjoy simple luxuries, so consider them the next time you go to buy any candle.
