In certain circumstances it is important to have a non slip floor coating such as in your home’s basement, kitchen of your restaurant, or other areas where there can be a slippery floor which may become very dangerous. Epoxy has been known to be very effective so it’s one of the most popular types of non slip coating. An additional benefit from epoxy is it is waterproof and usually has glossy appearance once dry. It is also tough and clean looking. It can be applied to polish the surface of concrete floors if what you want is a surface purely for aesthetic value.
Epoxy is the shorter name of epoxy resin and it is formed by utilizing two different chemicals. These two liquids form an extremely hard-wearing coating material. Epoxy is a familiar material for commercial and industrial environments where it is widely used. It is more known as coating of floors but it can also be applied to give protection to walls against vandalism, graffiti and other possible damages. Along with being waterproof, an epoxy is also capable of repelling dust so it is a great choice for interior areas and large or hard to clean areas such as hospitals, warehouses and restaurants. This means that the maintenance for cleanliness becomes much simpler.
There are also different grades for epoxy. The grades are useful in identifying what type should be applied in commercial, industrial and residential settings. For instance, there’s a specific type of epoxy that would be used for a home garage and a different type is for the warehouse.
In actuality, epoxy alone has no non slip features so it is normal for manufacturers to include an additional material like sand to provide the added non slip safety factor. Accidents that happen in a work or industrial setting can be very damaging or even fatal and it is risky for both the employees and the company. By applying an anti slip floor paint, these accidents can be prevented and it also results in a hard and nice looking finish for the floor.
