Two Types of Homemade Room Dividers

A room divider is one of the best ways to add a decorative touch to your room without using up a lot of space. Many people like the look of these pieces and use them in rooms even where there is no need to create a division. However, they can be very expensive. Some of the better options can cost hundreds of dollars, and if you want a custom one made, you could even end up spending thousands. If you like the look of using a room divider but you’re not thrilled about the price, here are two ways you can make your own.
The first is the easiest one to execute: the curtain room divider. If you have ever hung a shower curtain before, then you are more than capable of making this type of divider for yourself because the basic premise is the same. You don’t have to hang up a plastic curtain with little yellow ducks all over it in your living room, however. The end result is actually much more elegant.
You should go to wherever you would normally buy curtains and choose something that goes well with the room in question. You might want to use a sheer curtain if you’d like light to pass through. You can use heavier material if you want to create a more private space. It’s pretty easy to find a wide variety of drapes but if you don’t have any luck, you can always go to a fabric store and find something suitable . Measure the area where you’d like to hang the divider and buy a tension-mounted curtain rod. There are many ornate options that look fantastic in a formal living room. Then it’s just a matter of hanging the curtains on the rod. It’s simple, it’s cheap, and it takes all of two seconds to push the curtains back when you don’t need to create a division.
Another option for people who are a little more crafty is to create a photo room divider. This requires a bit more work but the result is something far more personalized. All you need to do is buy a large canvas with a solid back and glue the photos you want to use onto the canvas or use decoupage. Another option is to buy a bunch of cheap wooden frames from a dollar store and glue them all together using wood glue. This is more work but the end result is certainly more unique. These dividers are great for displaying a bunch of family photos at once and they also make great gifts.
