Tips for Cleaning Venetian Blinds

There are as many different types of blinds as there are suggestions as to how to clean them.  Obviously you will have to consider the types of blinds you have when you are figuring out the best tips for getting them clean, as white Venetian blinds are made up of very different materials to say red roman blinds.

The blinds that most homeowners seem to have difficulty with are Venetian blinds.  The slats in Venetian blinds can be made from aluminium, plastic or wood and it can be difficult to get in between the slats to remove dust and other particles.

Using a small brush is a good way to clean Venetian blinds, as you can use the brush to reach in easily to places and gaps between the blinds that you might have difficulty reaching with a cloth.  It could be suggested also that the brush could be dampened a bit in order to help you trap dust, which you can then wipe off.  Cleaning blinds with warm water is a good idea and if you add some vinegar to the water you will have blinds that smell fresh as well as being clean.

You can also clean the slats of these blinds by wearing an old glove and by running your hand through the slats.  Obviously a fabric glove would be the best type of glove for this operation.  You could also do a similar job on your blinds with an old sock, or better still two old socks.  Put a sock on each hand, dampen one and use that to first wipe the blinds and follow on behind with the other sock which will dry the blinds for you.

So no matter what types of Venetian blinds you want to clean, whether they be the traditional type or bottom up blinds, these tips should help you to get them clean with few difficulties.
