You don’t have to have a degree in interior design in order to have a beautiful looking home. The most important thing to remember is that while all of your items make a contribution to the overall look, there are a few specific items that will make the largest overall difference.
One of these main items is the use of lamp shades in your home. When considering purchasing shades, you will want to pay close attention to the rest of the furniture in that particular room. If you have a lot of items with rounded corners and flowing lines, then you will want to buy a round shade.
However, if you have a lot of straight lines or geometric prints, then a square lamp shade will be the best choice. These shades will greatly complement box like furniture and prints without looking out of place as a traditional shaped shade would. In fact, square lamp shades will be an area of interest in many parts of your home.
In order to get the best use out of a square shade, they need to be placed in a more contemporary home. They will also look best when the lamp base is also angular and perhaps made out of a singular block of wood or a ceramic or chrome tube.
Since most people use traditional lamp shades, they are a little easier to find than square lamp shades. Before heading to the Internet, where you can always track down what you want, you can try your local interior decorating stores or a lighting store for the best selection. It is best is you try to find a store that specializes in contemporary designs as they will have the widest and best choice.
It is also a good idea to see what you can find in your own hometown so you can take the base with you and make both the base and shade go well together. If you absolutely cannot find what you are looking for in a regular store, you may have to turn to the Internet. Keep in mind, however, that this may introduce a period of trial and error as you try to find just the right shade to go with your lamp.
