Many people would love to buy lockets as a gift or simply for themselves. Having an antique locket is something you might say a keeper, whether you received it from someone or you want to buy one for yourself.

However, a lot of people tend to have second thoughts on buying antique lockets. This is due to several myths surrounding these items that has absolutely no basis. If you are one of those people who entertain these myths on your mind, then you might as well dump them completely as we are about to bust these unfounded notions.

As we all know, the price of gold has been on the rise the past few years, and it is never a surprise why these jewelry items are expensive. Even more so when it is an antique. A genuine antique locket might be in poor shape. Again, this is not the case of all antique lockets. Some are in perfect shape so long as it was properly cleaned, maintained, and stored carefully over the years. Looking closely into the item, it may show signs of corrosion and mishandling if there are any discoloration, dark patches and scratches. Knowing how to look for these signs can give you better chances of getting a good quality antique.

Some antique lockets are said to have some sort of bad luck attached to it. Basically, there is no truth to any of that. Some unscrupulous antique dealers just make up some stories to further spark interest in their antique items. In fact, if there is some truth to it, you are buying a piece of history.
