Are You Thinking about Redoing a Room?

Are you thinking about redoing a room or two in your house? Starting these kinds of projects and then trying to get them finished can seem like a daunting task that never ends. A lot of this sometimes is because of a lack of motivation, and not really knowing where to start.

I always like to start any room remodeling project with getting a little help from family or friends to move all of my furniture and belongings out of the room. This always makes the remodeling project go a little easier. There is nothing worse that being in a room full of furniture that you have to cover and work around.

Ok, so you finally have every thing removed from the room, and are finally ready to begin. The first thing you need to do is start fixing any cracks or defects that you see on the walls and ceiling. This will make the room look so much better when you finish painting the room. As far as colors go, use a color that you are comfortable with decorating around. I prefer white, but maybe you prefer red. That is fine. The important thing is that we get new paint on the walls and ceiling to make the room look clean and new before we start moving our furniture back in to decorate.

Now that every thing is painted and looking like new, now is the time to clean everything really good before you get your furniture back in the room. This also includes the drapes if you are not planning on replacing them at this time. A good carpet cleaning should be in order as well. One final thing I like to add to my rooms is some nice area rugs. I prefer a shag rug in my rooms, but this might not be for you. No matter  what you pick rugs are a great way to cover stains and wear spots on the carpet. Well that is just the basics to get you started the rest is up to you!
